Kling AI MCP Server: Can You Run Kling from Claude?

Yes. Kling has an official MCP server at kling.ai/mcp. What it returns, what it costs, the community and aggregator routes, and how to get a finished video.

Yes, you can run Kling from Claude, and you do not need a community project to do it. Kling publishes its own MCP server at https://kling.ai/mcp. You add it as a custom connector, sign in with your Kling account, and Claude gets Kling’s text-to-video, image-to-video, and motion-control tools, billed to the credits you already pay for. We set it up and read the guide and FAQ on 25 September 2026. What comes back is a clip of 3 to 15 seconds, with spoken audio if you ask for it on the 3.0 models. What does not come back is a script, a narrated explainer, captions, or a post to your channel. That gap is where the rest of this guide lives.

What we checked, and what we found

We looked in five places on 25 September 2026. Kling’s own MCP page and setup guide, the npm registry, GitHub through its API, the MCP directories (PulseMCP, Glama, Smithery, mcp.so), and Anthropic’s connectors directory.

Kling’s site is the source that settles the question. The page at kling.ai/app/mcp and its guide describe a hosted server, the connector steps for Claude Desktop and claude.ai, and a FAQ that spells out billing and limits. Kling is not in Anthropic’s connectors directory, so you add it by URL.

GitHub holds the older story. Before Kling shipped its own server, developers wrote wrappers around Kling’s API, and several are still online. We pulled stars, licences, and last-push dates for each one below.

The directories mostly list the wrappers, not the official server, which is why a search still sends people to GitHub first.

The official Kling MCP server

Kling’s MCP page is the one to bookmark. The server is hosted, so there is nothing to run on your machine, and it signs you in with your Kling account instead of an API key.

Setup in Claude takes a minute. Open Customize, then Connectors, in Claude Desktop or on claude.ai. Add a custom connector with the URL https://kling.ai/mcp. Click Connect and sign in when Kling’s page opens. Cursor uses the same URL. Kling’s FAQ also names Codex, OpenClaw, and Workbuddy.

Once connected, Claude sees 16 tools. The ones you will use are text_to_video, image_to_video, text_to_image, image_to_image, and motion_control, plus motion_library_list for the preset motions. The rest manage saved elements, uploads, and your account: element_create and friends, file_upload, query_membership_and_credits, who_am_i, and logout. Generation tools return a generation_id, and Claude polls query_tasks until the clip is ready.

Kling’s FAQ sets the rules, and they are worth reading before the first render.

  • Billing matches the web app. Each generation costs the same credits as it would on kling.ai.
  • Only paid credits in your Personal workspace count. Bonus credits do not apply, the free off-peak generations do not apply, and Team workspaces are not supported.
  • Non-subscribers get one video task at a time. The rate cap is five requests a second.
  • Result links expire after 24 hours, so download what you want to keep.
  • There is no cancel tool. A started task runs to the end and bills.

Kling also ships a CLI, installed with npx skills add klingai-tech/skills or npm i -g @klingai/cli-global, and recommends it over MCP for agents that run on their own. Kling says to install the MCP or the CLI, not both.

What comes back

A Kling call returns one clip. On Kling 3.0, 3.0 Turbo, and 3.0 Omni that clip is 3 to 15 seconds. On O1 and 2.6 it is 3 to 10 seconds. On 2.5 Turbo it is 5 or 10. Resolution is 720p or 1080p, with 4K on the 3.0 models. You can ask for 16:9, 9:16, or 1:1, and the file is an MP4.

The 3.0 family and 2.6 generate native audio. That means dialogue with lipsync, ambient sound, and effects inside the clip, in Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, or Spanish. The 3.0 models can also cut between shots inside one generation. It is impressive, and it is easy to mistake for a narrated video.

It is not one. A narrated explainer is a script planned across scenes, a voice that runs the whole length, captions timed to the words, and a file long enough to say something. Kling gives you 15 seconds of footage with sound in it. You still write the script, plan the scenes, stitch the clips, add the voice track, caption it, and upload it. Our guide to MCP servers for video generation draws that line for the whole category.

Kling’s server owns one of the six steps. That is the right shape for a model server, and the wrong shape for someone who wants a video on a channel.

The community Kling MCP servers

These predate Kling’s own server. Each one wraps Kling’s developer API and needs an access key and secret key from Kling’s developer console, which bills per second at API rates rather than through your subscription.

Stars and dates come from the GitHub API on 25 September 2026.

The most-starred project, 199-mcp/mcp-kling, is the one directories still point at, and it has not been touched since June 2025. Its model list ends at Kling 2 Master. It still runs, but you are paying API rates for last year’s models. mindstone is the maintained one, and the only reason to pick it over the official server is the lipsync and extend tools, which the official MCP does not expose.

We’d send most people to Kling’s own server. It uses the subscription you already have, it is the one Kling will keep current, and it is one URL.

The aggregator routes

Three official servers from other companies reach Kling models too, and they matter if you want Kling next to Veo, Seedance, or Wan without changing connectors.

fal.ai’s MCP at https://mcp.fal.ai/mcp runs any fal endpoint from a bearer key, and fal lists the Kling 3.0, 3.0 Omni, 2.6, and 2.5 Turbo families. Our fal.ai MCP guide covers the setup. Replicate’s MCP hosts Kling 3 and 2.5 Turbo Pro under the kwaivgi account, and our Replicate MCP review has the details. Higgsfield’s MCP lists Kling 3 among its 30-plus models with no API key at all, which we covered in the Higgsfield MCP post.

All three return the same thing Kling’s own server returns. A clip.

What Kling costs, three ways

Kling has three price lists, and which one you pay depends on the route.

Through the official MCP you spend subscription credits. On the membership page on 25 September 2026, Standard was $10 a month for 660 credits, Pro $37 for 3,000, Premier $92 for 8,000, and Ultra $180 for 26,000, with first-month discounts and 34% off yearly. Kling 3.0 with native audio at 1080p costs 12 credits a second, so a 5-second clip is 60 credits and the Standard plan covers 11 of them.

Through a community wrapper you pay API rates per second. From Kling’s API pricing page the same day: Kling 3.0 Turbo is $0.112 a second at 720p and $0.14 at 1080p. Kling 3.0 without audio is $0.084 at 720p, $0.112 at 1080p, and $0.42 at 4K, and $0.126 or $0.168 with audio. Kling 2.6 and 2.5 Turbo are $0.042 at 720p and $0.07 at 1080p. Lip sync is $0.07 per 5 seconds.

Through fal or Replicate you pay their per-second rate, which tracks the API list closely. fal quoted Kling 3 Pro at $0.112 a second, or $0.168 with audio.

How to get a finished video from Claude instead

If the goal is a video on your channel rather than footage in a folder, connect a pipeline server. There is nothing to install. AITuber’s server is hosted at https://mcp.aituber.app.

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors, in Claude Desktop or on claude.ai.
  2. Click Add custom connector and paste the server URL. The Claude MCP server for video page has the exact steps.
  3. Sign in with your AITuber account. No API key goes into Claude.
  4. Ask for a video. Say the topic, the length, the aspect ratio, and where to post it.
  5. Approve the tool call. AITuber writes the script, picks a voice from more than 1,300, generates the visuals, adds word-synced captions, renders the MP4, and publishes to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, or X.

In Claude Code, one command does the same: claude mcp add --transport http aituber https://mcp.aituber.app. The server also works in Cursor, Codex, and ChatGPT. Our guide to AI video generation in Claude with MCP has 20 prompts that work.

You can keep both connectors. Ask Kling for a cinematic 10-second opener when a scene needs it, and ask AITuber for the narrated video around it.

The honest read. Kling’s server is the best way to use Kling from a chat, and it makes the community wrappers a niche choice. None of them, official or not, turns a prompt into a video someone can watch on a channel. For that, AITuber is the route that finishes the job.

Who should use what

Use the official Kling MCP if you already pay for Kling and want its clips inside Claude or Cursor. Ask for a 10-second shot with dialogue, download it within 24 hours, and cut it into whatever you are making.

Use a community wrapper only if you need lipsync or extend from a chat, or you bill through Kling’s API on purpose. Pick mindstone, since it is the one being maintained.

Use fal, Replicate, or Higgsfield if you want Kling beside other models under one connector. Our best MCP servers for AI video generation roundup compares all three.

Use AITuber if you want to ask Claude for a video and find it on your channel. The same MCP server for AI video generation works in ChatGPT, Cursor, and Codex.

Frequently Asked Questions

Basics

Is there an official Kling AI MCP server?

Yes. Kling hosts one at https://kling.ai/mcp. You add it as a custom connector in Claude Desktop, claude.ai, or Cursor and sign in with your Kling account. Its setup guide and FAQ are at kling.ai/app/mcp.

Can Claude generate Kling videos?

Yes, once the connector is added. Claude can call Kling’s text-to-video, image-to-video, and motion-control tools and return a clip of 3 to 15 seconds. It cannot turn that clip into a narrated, captioned video or post it anywhere through Kling’s server.

Does the Kling MCP use my subscription credits?

Yes. Generations cost the same credits as on kling.ai, drawn from paid credits in your Personal workspace. Bonus credits, off-peak free generations, and Team workspaces do not apply, according to Kling’s FAQ.

Setup

How do I add Kling to Claude?

Open Customize, then Connectors, add a custom connector with the URL https://kling.ai/mcp, click Connect, and sign in. There is no API key. In Cursor, add the same URL to your MCP config.

Should I use the Kling MCP or the Kling CLI?

Kling says one or the other, not both. The MCP suits chat clients such as Claude and Cursor. Kling recommends the CLI for agents that run without a person, such as OpenClaw or Hermes.

Why do my Kling links stop working?

Result URLs expire 24 hours after the task finishes. Download the clip when it is ready, or ask Claude to fetch it again with the task tool while the link is live.

Comparisons

Is the 199-mcp/mcp-kling project still worth using?

Only for its lipsync and extend tools. It has not been updated since June 2025 and its models stop at Kling 2 Master, so you pay API rates for older models. The official server is current and uses your subscription.

Kling MCP or AITuber MCP for a faceless channel?

AITuber, because a channel needs finished videos and Kling returns footage. Keep Kling connected for the occasional cinematic shot. Our MCP servers roundup ranks both.

Which route is cheapest for Kling footage?

For someone already on a Kling plan, the official MCP, because the credits are already paid for. For occasional use with no plan, the API through a wrapper, at $0.042 a second on 2.6 at 720p. For a finished video rather than footage, none of them is the right comparison.

Final verdict

You can run Kling from Claude, officially, in about a minute. The server is well made, it uses your existing subscription, and the 3.0 models return short clips with real audio in them. It is a model server, and it behaves like one: one step of six. If you make videos from footage, add it. If you want to ask Claude for a video and see it on your channel, connect AITuber’s Claude MCP server for video and let Kling be the connector you reach for when a scene needs a cinematic shot.

How we researched this: we read Kling’s MCP page, setup guide, and FAQ, its API pricing and capability pages, and its membership page on 25 September 2026. Star counts, licences, and last-push dates for the community projects come from the GitHub API that day, and package details from npm and PyPI. fal.ai, Replicate, and Higgsfield model lists and prices are from their own pages the same day. The MCP download figures are from the Linux Foundation’s September 2026 press release. AITuber is a product we build, so every comparison is flagged, and the Kling details are kept accurate and current. If Kling changes its server, this page will be updated.
