How to Turn a PDF Into a Video
How to convert a PDF to a video in three steps. Upload the file, pick Summarize or Read it out, set a length. One worked example, plus fixes.
To turn a PDF into a video, upload the file to a PDF to video AI, pick Summarize or Read it out, then set a length and generate. AITuber reads the text, writes a script, and builds a narrated video with visuals and captions. What comes back is a video about the ideas in the document, so your pages never appear as a slideshow.

Two kinds of PDF to video
“PDF to video” means two different jobs, and most people only want one of them.
The first is a page slideshow. A converter turns each page into a still image and plays the images in order. Your layout stays on screen exactly as you made it. Nothing is narrated unless you add a voice yourself.
The second is an AI explainer. The tool reads the text, works out what the document says, and makes a new video about it. A voice explains the points while fresh visuals match each scene, and your pages stay out of it.
| Page slideshow | AI explainer | |
|---|---|---|
| What you see | Your pages, one after another | New visuals made for each scene |
| Voice | None, unless you record one | AI narration written from the text |
| Captions | None | Word-synced captions |
| Good for | A deck or form people must see as designed | A report, paper, guide, or notes you want people to understand |
| Weak at | Holding attention past page two | Showing your exact layout or charts |
AITuber does the second job only. If you need page 14 on screen as you designed it, use a slideshow converter. We’d still pick the explainer for anything going on social media. A still page of small text is hard to read on a phone.
Worked example: a 40-page report into a 60-second Short
Take a 40-page annual report that nobody outside the team will read. The goal is one vertical video, a minute long, that tells a stranger what changed this year.
1. Clean the PDF
Open the report and delete the pages that carry no ideas. That means the cover, the contents page, the legal notes, and the reference list. Forty pages often drop to thirty. Save it as a new PDF and check that the size is under the 25 MB upload limit.
2. Upload it
Go to the PDF tool and drop the file in. A normal PDF has a text layer, and AITuber reads that directly. A scanned PDF has no text layer, so AITuber runs OCR on the page images first.
3. Pick Summarize
The form asks one question: “How should we use it?” There are two answers. Summarize it pulls out the key points and writes a tight script. Read it out narrates the text as written and trims it to your length.
A 40-page report needs Summarize. Read it out would start at page one and stop when the minute ran out.
4. Set the length and the shape
Set the length to 60 seconds. The script is written to fit that time, so you won’t get a ten-minute ramble. Choose 9:16 for Shorts, Reels, and TikTok. Pick 16:9 if the video is going on a YouTube channel page or into a meeting.
Sixty seconds holds about 140 spoken words, which is three or four points from forty pages. Decide which points before the tool decides for you.
5. Add a one-line steer
The notes field takes one plain sentence. For this report we’d write:
Open with the biggest change this year. Skip the finance tables. Write for someone outside the company.
That one line does more than any other setting. Without it, the script can follow the report’s own order, and reports open with background.
6. Pick a look and a voice
Choose a visual style that suits the subject. Kurzgesagt is the default on the PDF page, and it suits explainers. Isometric Tech reads well for business and process documents. Then pick a voice. We’d go calm and clear for a report.
7. Generate and check the first ten seconds
Press generate, and the script, visuals, voice, and captions come back as one video. Watch the opening before anything else. If it starts with a definition or a company history, add “open with a question” to your steer and run it again.
Then check the facts. Read every number in the script against the report. AITuber reads your text, but a summary can still round a figure or drop a caveat. You own what the video says.
Summarize or Read it out?
Use Summarize for anything over five pages. It reads the whole file and chooses what earns the time.
Read it out suits short pieces you want spoken close to word for word, like a one-page announcement, a short letter, or a product description. It keeps your wording, so use it when the wording matters.
| Your PDF | Mode | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A report, paper, or guide over five pages | Summarize | The script is built from the main points, not the first pages |
| A one-page memo or announcement | Read it out | Your exact wording stays |
| A long document, but you only care about one section | Summarize, with a steer naming the section | The steer tells the script where to look |
| Lecture notes for revision | Summarize | Notes repeat themselves, and a summary removes the repeats |
One trap catches people. Read it out on a long file trims the narration at your chosen length, so the ending gets cut. If the last page holds your conclusion, the video never reaches it.
Length follows the same logic. A 60-second Short suits one idea. A full walkthrough of a long report needs five to ten minutes, and AITuber goes up to 20. Our guide to long-form AI videos covers how to keep a longer one watchable.
What makes a bad source
Some PDFs make weak videos no matter which settings you pick. The cause is nearly always the same: the file has little to narrate.
- Tables and raw data. A page of numbers has no sentences. Write two lines about what the numbers show and add them above the table.
- Cover pages and contents pages. They add words with no meaning. Delete them.
- Reference lists. A long list of citations can pull the script toward names and dates. Cut it before you upload.
- Slides with three words each. A deck exported to PDF often has too little text. Export it with speaker notes so there is something to read.
- Forms and invoices. There is no argument to explain. A slideshow converter is the better tool for those.
The best sources are text-heavy with a clear point: reports, papers, guides, manuals, case studies, and course notes.
Scanned PDFs and OCR
A scanned PDF is a set of page photos with no text layer. AITuber runs OCR to recover the words before it writes anything.
OCR is only as good as the scan. A flat, clean scan at 300 dpi reads well, while a phone photo taken at an angle with a shadow across the page reads badly. Handwriting is the hardest case. We wouldn’t count on messy notes coming through.
Test it quickly. Open the PDF and try to select a sentence with your cursor. If you can, the file has a text layer and OCR isn’t needed. If you can’t, look at the scan quality before you upload. Rescan a poor one. It takes two minutes and saves a wasted video.
Five fixes for a weak first draft
Most weak drafts come from the source or the steer. Change one of those before you change anything else.
- The video opens slowly. Add “open with a question” or “open with the main finding” to the steer.
- It covers the wrong part. Name the section: “focus on chapter three, skip the method.”
- It sounds too technical. Add “explain it for someone new to this.”
- It tries to cover everything. Shorten the PDF. One chapter makes a better minute than a whole manual.
- A number is wrong or rounded. Edit that line in the script. Then check the rest against the source.
We’d change one thing per run. Change three and you won’t know which one helped.
Exporting the file
The finished video downloads as an MP4, up to 4K, with no watermark. Captions are burned in, so it plays correctly on feeds that start muted. You can also connect a YouTube channel and publish from inside AITuber.
For social media, 1080p is enough, because every platform compresses uploads anyway. If the file itself is what you came for, our PDF to MP4 converter page covers formats and sizes.
What if it is not a PDF?
The upload takes PDF only, so PowerPoint, Keynote, and Word files don’t work yet. Export to PDF first. Each of those apps does it from the File menu in a couple of clicks.
A web page doesn’t need a file at all. Paste the link, as long as the page is public and opens without a login. The document to video AI page compares the file route and the link route.
A deck exported to PDF still becomes an explainer. The video talks about what the slides say. It won’t show the slides.
What it costs
A 30-second Short with AI images costs about 35 credits on AITuber. Longer videos, AI video clips, and higher image tiers cost more.
| AITuber plan | Price | Credits a month | 30-second Shorts | Cost per Short |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free signup | $0, no card | 100, one time | 2 | $0 |
| Creator | $39 a month | 2,500 | About 71 | About $0.55 |
| Pro | $69 a month | 5,000 | About 142 | About $0.49 |
The math is simple division. 2,500 credits divided by 35 gives 71 Shorts, and $39 divided by 71 gives 55 cents. The 100 free credits cover two 30-second Shorts, which is enough to test one PDF twice with different steers. Live prices are on the pricing page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Basics
How do I convert a PDF to a video?
Upload the PDF, pick Summarize or Read it out, set a length, and generate. AITuber reads the text, writes a script, and returns a narrated video with visuals and captions.
Will the video show my PDF pages?
No. AITuber makes a video about the ideas in the document and generates its own visuals. To show the pages themselves, use a slideshow converter.
How long can the PDF be?
The file can be up to 25 MB. There is no fixed page limit. A long PDF gets condensed hard, so a 40-page report in 60 seconds keeps only the main points.
Files and formats
Can I turn a PowerPoint or Word file into a video?
Not directly. The upload takes PDF only. Export the file to PDF first, then upload that. The video explains what the slides say and does not show the slides.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Yes. AITuber runs OCR when a PDF has no text layer. A clean 300 dpi scan works well. A phone photo of a page works poorly.
Can I use a link instead of a PDF?
Yes. Paste a public link and AITuber reads the page. The page has to open without a login or paywall.
Making it better
Should I pick Summarize or Read it out?
Pick Summarize for anything over five pages. Pick Read it out for a short piece where your exact wording matters, like a one-page announcement.
How do I control what the video focuses on?
Write one sentence in the notes field, such as “focus on the results and skip the method.” The script follows that line.
How much does it cost to turn a PDF into a video?
A 30-second Short with AI images costs about 35 credits on AITuber. Signup includes 100 free credits with no card. The AITuber Creator plan is $39 a month for 2,500 credits.
How we researched this: the survey figure comes from Wyzowl’s 2026 video marketing statistics page, read on 9 October 2026. The steps follow AITuber’s PDF form as it stands on that date: a PDF upload up to 25 MB, the Summarize and Read it out modes, a length setting, and a one-line notes field. The 40-page report is a made-up example, and we wrote its sample script lines for this guide. AITuber prices and credits come from our live plan list. AITuber is our product, so we’ve said where a slideshow converter is the better choice.
The PDF to video AI page opens the upload form with Summarize already picked.
